You’ve worked hard and gotten your landscaping off the ground. The trouble is, you can’t seem to get very many clients due to your business being new, and you don’t know how to turn things around. Here is where advertising will come in handy. Keep reading to learn about five different ways to advertise your landscaping business.
The different ways you can advertise your landscaping business are building a website, using social media, using word of mouth, distributing fliers, going door to door, and networking. Use these methods to your advantage to grow your business from the new kid on the block to the business everyone wants to work with.
Building a Website

One of the first things I’d start by doing is building a website. Make sure you choose a domain name that makes sense for your business, and that is easy to spell and find on Google. You don’t want to choose something that is spelled oddly or has too many words. If clients misspell it and keep getting redirected, chances are they will just give up on finding your site altogether.
Also, make sure your website has all important information listed in an easy-to-find and easy-to-read manner. This is information such as business hours, location, services you offer, pricing, and a way to contact you. Make sure your homepage is clutter-free and easy to navigate. No hard-to-read fonts, too many colors, or busy photos. If the website is hard to use or offers too much unnecessary info – guests will get overwhelmed and closeout.
Next, make sure that your website can be easily found on all of your social media accounts, your business card, and the advertising material that you hand out. This will ensure that your website can easily be found by all the guests that you advertise to, and will become an important part of converting just lookers to serious long-term clients.
How To Create Your Landscaping Advertising Slogan
Using Social Media to Advertise
When you hear the words advertising, social media may be the first thing that comes to mind. People are always on their phones these days and it might be one of the easiest and fastest ways to get the word out about your new business.
There are a few different popular platforms you have the option of using here. Instagram and Facebook are two of the front runners. On Instagram, hashtags are king. You can attach hashtags to your photos to try and get your photo on as many people’s search results as possible. Use a hashtag for the services you offer, where you are located, your pricing, the city you are local to, the products you sell, etc. I don’t want to bore you with my hashtags list, but you get the gist. Add as many applicable hashtags as possible to make sure your photo is seen! The more people who view your photo, the higher the chances of you gaining more clients.
Facebook is another social media platform that you can use to advertise. Post an ad with your business name, the services you offer, pricing, and how they can contact you. Don’t make the ad too cluttered or overly busy. When it comes to social media posts, less is more to grab peoples’ attention. Just make sure you list your website domain and a way to contact you right on the ad. The ad will circulate among your friends and hopefully, they will pass it on to their friends. Getting the word out further and further. Also, make sure to join any Facebook groups that relate to your business. This will help get the word out to even more people!
Using Word of Mouth to Advertise

Using word of mouth is another great way to advertise your new business. Depending on how tech-savvy you are, you may enjoy this method more than you do using social media. Although this is a straightforward tool, you just have to talk about your business after all, you must do it right. If you talk about your new business in a very dull and drab way, then people listening to you will feel that your business isn’t all too exciting to check out. However, if you talk about your business like it’s the best in town and beats out all other landscaping businesses in price and quality, then you are sure to catch your client’s attention. At the very least, they are going to go home and check out what you have to offer.
Here is the key point of word-of-mouth advertising – don’t forget to give them a business card or flier that they can refer to once they’ve left. Make sure to list your business’s name and website so they can scroll through and learn more about you on their own time. Then, when it comes time to start on their landscaping project, who do you think they will reach out to? That’s right, that super charming new landscape business owner who talked up their shop to them, that’s who! So, whatever you do, just get that card in their hand.

Distributing Fliers
Handing out fliers or putting them up around town may seem like a thing of the past to you, but you’d be surprised at how effective this tool still is. A lot of the older generation still isn’t on social media, but they do still subscribe to newspapers. So, if you stick to only social media marketing, you are missing out on a huge chunk of potential customers. But by sending out a flier with the Sunday newspaper or putting up fliers around town, you’re sure to get their attention. Like the Facebook ad we talked about earlier, make sure your flier has all the important information to hook their attention. You may even want to attach a coupon to the flier since this is likely to grab more people’s attention and give them an added incentive to visit your shop.
Door-to-Door Advertisement
Sometimes the tried-and-true methods are the best. Being a door-to-door salesperson was a profession once upon a time, and the best salespeople made lots of sales and money! You can use this tool as a way to advertise your business. Go door to door in your neighborhood and surrounding neighborhoods to individually tell each family about your new business and the services you provide. If they aren’t interested, it’s okay, just move on to the next house. Just like all things, you are sure to have some hits and some misses. If they aren’t home, no worries. Just leave a flier at their door so they see it when they get home and can contact you if they’re interested. The key here is again to sell your business in a way that clients will want to work with you. You are selling yourself and your company here, so make every interaction count!
Networking for Advertising
Networking is just like word of mouth, except you are being a lot more intentional about where you are doing your advertising. Look out for business events, local events, or groups that you can join or attend and advertise to. Again, make sure you are being your charming self and selling your business well! Make sure to always hand out a flyer or a business card so they have a way of getting in touch with you once the event is over.
Making it All Work for You

Advertising is a key part of building your business. You can’t expect to simply set up shop and have clients come to you. You must be intentional about getting the word out and being consistent about it. Advertising isn’t a one-and-done thing either, you need to stay at it and constantly be putting your name out there to bring in more and more clients. I hope this article will help guide you when you get to work on starting your advertising campaign. Good luck!

Frequently Asked Questions
Out of these, what is the most important tool I can use?
I wouldn’t say one tool is more important than the others. As I said above, if you stick to just one method, you are missing out on a huge chunk of your potential clients. You don’t have to do every single method of advertising on this list to a T, but I would advise having a healthy mix of social media along with advertising in person so you can hit all the age demographics.
Is there such a thing as overkill?
No. Unless you’re showing up to the same house five times a week talking about your business, you shouldn’t have to worry about overdoing it. On the flip side, if they see an ad for your business on Facebook, then hear you talking about it at a networking event, and then receive a flier in the mail about your business as well – it is going to stick in their mind that you have a new landscaping business in town. This also gives you a much higher chance of being chosen when it comes time for them to do some landscaping.
